italian ISP’s against sites blocking
he Italian association of ISPs (Assoprovider) has challenged a decision by the Italian Appeals Court to block the Indymedia website, accused of transmitting false information against a multinational company. According to the ISPs, such measures violate the free circulation of information and block the development of e-commerce. Assoprovider noted that in recent weeks there have been several orders for blocking access to blogs, media outlets and portals, moves which risk transforming the ISPs into internet “censors”.
