Belgian minister for economic affairs Vincent van Quickenborne wants to increase competition on the telecom market by auctioning off new mobile licences and by opening up existing networks to competitors. A fourth UMTS line will be available in the course of next year, with cable operator Telenet seen as the prime candidate.
