Us Auction of 700 MHZ spectrum
The US Federal Communication Commission (FCC) announced that the big winners in the auction of 700 MHz spectrum in America were Verizon Communications Inc and AT&T. Google had been slated as the main bidder in this block, but took no licenses. AT&T took 227 licenses in the B-Block of regional licences. Frontier Wireless, a partner of EchoStar, acquired licenses in the E-Block. While these companies took the majority of licenses, a large percentage also were awarded to small companies in the auction which raised a total of USD 19.59 billion.
